NTT Com starts first IPv6 connectivity service trial in Japan for its Arcstar IP-VPN

NTT Communications (NTT Com) announced on September 13 that it would start offering the first IPv6 connectivity trial for IP-VPN service in Japan for Arcstar IP-VPN, its communication network service for businesses, on September 18. The company plans to begin supporting IPv6 in fiscal 2008. The trial service this time is meant to verify connectivity before formal service launch.

The service is offered on the following conditions: IPv6 native connectivity, service offered as Ether-type NTT Com Optical Access 1Mbps, 1 VPN per subscriber, maximum 5 connectivities per 1 VPN, and Kanto area of Japan. Eligible for the trial are corporations in Japan which can respond to service-specific questionaires as trial participants. Applications are accepted from September 18 to December 20. The trial is conducted from September 18, 2007 to August 31, 2008. Participation fee is 500,000 yen.

NTT Com says it plans to commercialize a dual-stack IPv6 connectivity service, supporting both IPv4 and IPv6, in fiscal 2008.
