    On October 23, NTT Communications announced that "OCN Emergency Earthquake Alert" would be available from October 24. This is a commercial service for consumers based on the "IPv6 Multicast Delivery of Emergency Earthquake Information" whose model experiments had been going on since December 2006.

    NTT Communications (NTT Com) announced on September 13 that it would start offering the first IPv6 connectivity trial for IP-VPN service in Japan for Arcstar IP-VPN, its communication network service for businesses, on September 18. The company plans to begin supporting IPv6 in fiscal 2008. The trial service this time is meant to verify connectivity before formal service launch.

    IFTF 69 Meeting was held in Chicago, USA, from July 22 through 27, 2007. The meeting gathered 1,146 people from 40 countries around the world this time, as reported at the plenary session (a general meeting held in Wednesday evening everytime). The IETF 68 Meeting held in Prague, Czech Republic got 1,129 people from 45 countries participated.

    Following the press release on June 19 2007 with regard to the IPv4 address space exhaustion issue, Japan Network Information Center (JPNIC) says that the organization has started to work on and evaluate concrete measures with organized efforts internally and externally. JPNIC plans to make an official announcement of its policy by December this year.

    NTT Communications announced that "MultiPolicy VPN for OCN" will be available from August 24. This new service allows encrypted communication for each group/end device, which has been difficult with a conventional VPN service. The key enabler is NTT Com's own m2m-x technology which capitalizes on IPv6.
